Rony SHAHAM was born in Craiova, Romania on October 12th, 1950.
He was the first son of the two children SCHWARTZ family.
In 1963 the family immigrated to Israel and settled in Hadera.
After serving in the IDF, he studied Electrical Engineering at the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa and got a B.Sc.EE diploma. Later he studied system analysis and got a Master degree in business administration at Herriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
He worked at Elisra electronic systems ltd., Bnei-Brak, Israel from 1977 until his death. He had various jobs: he was head of the technical publications department, was a systems analyst, was head of engineering support services, was head of the test equipment labs of the operating division and was the operating division head controller. He succeeded in every job he did and had very good human relationships with all those he worked with. He was highly appreciated and loved.
Rony changed his family surname to the Hebrew name- SHAHAM.
He married, had two children and lived in Rishon Le Zion.
Apart from work, he was interested in bridge and was awarded the title of Senior National Master of Bridge. He was also a qualified bridge teacher.
In his last years he developed an interest in genealogy. He researched his family and wife’s family genealogy. He had volunteered to help to many genealogical projects. He was a founding member of the Botosani research team that acquired and indexed the vital records of the city of Botosani, Romania.
In November 2011 he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Rony passed away on July 19th 2012 and was buried in the Rishon Le Zion cemetery.
